MCP Goes Stateless
A significant architectural change moved MCP toward stateless transport, Europe activated its first live x402 payment corridor, and the 100 million payment question hung over the ecosystem.
The MCP working group merged the stateless transport proposal, eliminating persistent WebSocket connections in favor of request-scoped HTTP sessions. The change simplifies horizontal scaling for server operators but requires client-side session management rework. In parallel, the first euro-denominated x402 payment corridor went live between two European API providers.
